OWWA Scholarship 2026: Requirements and How to Apply

Dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) may receive ₱60,000 per school year through the OWWA scholarship programs, which help cover the cost of a four- or five-year baccalaureate course.

Applications for School Year 2026-2027 are open under three programs: the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP), the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP), and the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP).

All three programs are processed through OWWA Scholarship Online Application portal, which OWWA describes as intended to facilitate better service for OFWs. Information submitted through the portal is handled in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).

Ongoing OWWA Scholarship Applications for SY 2026-2027

OWWA has announced that applications for EDSP, CMWSP, and ODSP are now open, with the following schedule:

• EDSP Category 1 & CMWSP: September 7-17, 2026
• EDSP Category 2 & ODSP: September 7-27, 2026

OWWA Scholarship Programs and Benefits

1. Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)

EDSP provides qualified dependents of OFWs a maximum of ₱60,000 per school year until completion of a baccalaureate course (4-5 years).

• Category 1 (Incoming 1st Year College): Scholars are selected through the DOST national examinations. Only the top 1,000 qualifiers nationwide are considered for entry as freshmen.
• Category 2 (Already enrolled, 2nd to 5th year college): 600 slots are available for students already enrolled in any Philippine-based college or university.

2. OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP)

ODSP offers financial assistance of ₱20,000 per school year to qualified dependents of OFWs enrolling in, currently enrolled in, or who have been enrolled in a four- or five-year baccalaureate or associate course at a Philippine-based college or university.

The required maximum OFW monthly salary for eligibility is set through a memorandum OWWA issues during each school year’s application period.

3. Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)

CMWSP offers a maximum of ₱60,000 per school year until completion of a 4-5-year baccalaureate course, for deserving migrant workers and/or their immediate descendants pursuing priority courses in Science and Technology.

The program is funded through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), via a replenishable allocation maintained under a separate account by the OWWA Secretariat.

Who can apply for each owwa scholarship

EDSP Category 1 (Incoming 1st Year College)

• Single
• GWA of 80% or its equivalent
• Grade 12 graduating student
• Not more than 21 years old
• Child of an active OWWA member, or sibling of a single or married-but-childless active OWWA member
• No other member of the OFW family has availed of any OWWA scholarship program

EDSP Category 2 (2nd to 5th Year College)

• Single
• Not more than 30 years old
• GWA of at least 85% or its equivalent, with no failing grades
• Enrolled in a Philippine-based college or university
• Child of an active OWWA member, or sibling of a single or married-but-childless active OWWA member
• No other member of the OFW family has availed of any OWWA scholarship program

ODSP Category 1 (Incoming 1st Year College)

• Single
• Not more than 21 years old
• Passing GWA from the previous school year
• Child or sibling of an active OFW member
• OFW monthly income not exceeding USD 1,000, or its equivalent
• No other member of the OFW family has availed of any OWWA scholarship program

ODSP Category 2 (2nd to 5th Year College)

• Single
• Not more than 30 years old
• Passing GWA from the previous school year
• Enrolled in a Philippine-based college or university
• Child or sibling of an active OFW member

CMWSP

• Annual family gross income of USD 2,400 or ₱76,000
• Deserving migrant workers (active OFWs) not more than 45 years old, or children of active or inactive OFWs below 21 years old
• GWA of 80% with no failing grades for OFW-applicants, or within the top 20% of the graduating class with no failing grades for children of OFWs
• Alternative Learning System (ALS) passers under the Continuing Education Program’s Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) track may qualify with an average of at least 85%, or its equivalent, as certified by a DepEd-accredited school
• No other member of the OFW family has availed of any OWWA scholarship program

OWWA Scholarship Requirements

All three programs require the same basic set of documents upon online application:

1. Proof of Identity:
   • OFW: Copy of a valid OFW passport bio or information page.
   • Dependent: Valid school ID or any available valid ID, plus a birth certificate or baptismal certificate.
2. Proof of Grades from the previous school year (e.g., Form 137/Form 10 or Transcript of Records, Form 138/Report Card, or a Certificate of Grades from the school). Students unable to present current or previous semester grades may submit grades from within the last two school years as reference.
3. 2×2 ID Picture of the OFW’s dependent (child or sibling applicant), with a white background and the applicant’s name tag and signature.

How to Apply for an OWWA Scholarship

Step 1: Go to the official OWWA Scholarship Online Application portal: https://scholarship.owwa.gov.ph

Step 2: Select your OWWA Regional Office from the list, then click Proceed.

Step 3: Review and affirm the certification statement confirming that all information and requirements provided are complete, true, and correct, and that you agree to provide additional requirements to authorized OWWA personnel when requested. Click Yes to continue.

Step 4: Enter your active mobile number or E-mail for the One-Time PIN (OTP) verification. You will be contacted through this the selected option, if there’s a need to follow up on your application.

Step 5: Complete the CAPTCHA, choose to receive your OTP via SMS or email, and click Send OTP.

Step 6: Proceed to fill out the application form and upload the required documents listed above.

Important notes for online application:

• Use a valid and active email address
• Provide a working mobile number in case OWWA needs to reach you about your application
• Do not submit multiple applications, as this may affect verification and evaluation
• Prepare all required documents, information, and data about both the scholarship applicant and the OFW before starting your online application
• Double-check that all names and details are spelled correctly and completely
• Make sure you have a stable and strong internet connection before starting

Data Privacy

OWWA states that personal information submitted through the scholarship portal is collected, processed, and stored in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), used solely for OWWA membership and welfare program purposes, and will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required by law. Applicants have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of their personal data.
