SM College Scholarship 2027: Requirements, Benefits, and How to Apply

Qualified incoming college freshmen may receive full tuition, other school fees, and a monthly stipend through the SM College Scholarship, providing comprehensive financial assistance to help deserving students pursue their college education.

The program is open to eligible Grade 12 graduates or Alternative Learning System (ALS) completers from public and private schools within SM Foundation’s covered areas across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The SM College Scholarship is administered by SM Foundation, Inc., established by Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. and Mrs. Felicidad T. Sy in 1983 under the principle of “People Helping People.” For over two decades, the foundation has run a scholarship program for college students, believing that education is the primary solution to poverty.

To date, SM Foundation has produced 3,791 college scholar graduates, 4,669 tech-voc scholar graduates, and has constructed 103 school buildings in support of its education programs.

What is the SM College Scholarship?

The SM College Scholarship is a financial assistance program for incoming college freshmen taking priority courses, administered by SM Foundation. Scholars are free to enroll at any school of their choice, as long as it is located within SM Foundation’s covered areas.

The program supports the following priority courses:

• BS in Accounting Information Systems
• BS in Accounting Technology
• BS in Architecture

• BS in Computer Engineering

• BS in Electrical Engineering

• BSBA in Management Accounting
• Bachelor of Elementary Education

Who can apply for the SM College Scholarship?

According to SM Foundation’s published eligibility criteria, an applicant must meet the following conditions:

• Must be an incoming freshman and a Grade 12 graduate from a public or private school within the covered areas, or an ALS completer.
• Must have completed Grade 10 in a public high school, or, if from a private high school, must possess a DepEd voucher.
• Must have a general weighted average of at least 92% or its equivalent for Grade 12, 1st semester.
• Total household income must not exceed ₱250,000 per year.

Meeting these qualifications does not automatically guarantee a scholarship slot, as applicants still undergo examination, interview, and home visit evaluation before being confirmed as scholars.

Qualified SM Scholars receive the following support package:

• Full tuition and other school fees
• Monthly stipend
• Part-time job opportunities during semestral break and Christmas break
• Enrichment programs and other activities sponsored by SM
• Exclusive job offers with the SM Group upon graduation

SM College Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must submit an accomplished online application form together with the following attachments:

• One of the following proofs of income: Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of parent/s or guardian, Certificate of Non-Filing of Income, or Certificate of Indigency
• Latest Grade 12 report card
• Birth Certificate
• Two (2) copies of recent 2×2 ID pictures
• Sketch of residence to the nearest SM Mall

How to Apply for the SM College Scholarship 2027

Interested and qualified applicants should apply online through SM Foundation’s official application portal.

Expected application period: February 1 to February 28, 2027, based on the 2026 schedule.

The online application follows this process:

1. Apply Online – Accomplish the online application form and upload all required documents at scholarship.sm-foundation.org.
2. Confirmation of Application – Log in to the SM Scholarship Online System to confirm the application within seven (7) days of submission. Failure to confirm online will render the application void.
3. Processing & Evaluation – SM Foundation assesses the submitted forms and documents, then notifies the applicant via email of the application status (e.g., “Declined” or “For Exam”).
4. Examination – Exam schedule and venue are sent via email. Passers are announced on the same day of the exam.
5. Interview – Exam passers are individually interviewed by SM Foundation on the same day as the exam.
6. Home Visit – SM Foundation conducts random home visits to applicants who passed the interview. Applicants who do not qualify after the home visit are notified via email.
7. Confirmation of School & Course – Successful applicants are notified via email to confirm their chosen school and course.
8. Orientation & Contract Signing – An email notification with the schedule of orientation and contract signing is sent to the confirmed scholar.
