The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is set to open GSIS STEM Scholarship 2026, offering financial assistance to qualified college freshmen taking up Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

Through the GSIS Subsidy for STEM Program (GSSP), the agency aims to support 1,000 students per academic year, helping build a strong pipeline of future professionals in science and technology.

Official Announcement for the GSIS STEM Scholarship

GSIS announced that the scholarship program will begin accepting applications starting June 30, 2026.

The initiative aligns with the government’s push to strengthen the country’s workforce through STEM education. According to GSIS, the program will start from Academic Year 2026 to 2030, benefiting up to 4,000 students in total.

The scholarship is also designed to promote inclusivity, with allocated slots for students from marginalized sectors such as persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and solo-parent families.

Qualified scholars under the GSIS STEM Scholarship Program will receive:

• ₱15,000 annual financial assistance;

Who are the requirements?

To qualify for the GSIS Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Filipino citizen
• Child of an active GSIS member or a permanent total disability pensioner (below 60 years old)
• Incoming first-year college student
• Accepted in STEM course recognized by CHED
• Minimum GWA of 90% in Senior High School
• Priority given to applicants whose parents belong to Salary Grade 15 and below or have lower pension amounts

What are the Priority and Special Slots

Out of the 1,000 available slots per year:

• 200 slots are reserved for:
  • Persons with disabilities (PWDs)
  • Indigenous peoples (IPs)
  • Children of solo parents

This ensures wider access to education for underrepresented groups.

What is the Program Coverage and Duration

• The scholarship will continue for four academic years
• Total funding allocation is expected to reach ₱240 million by 2034
• Each batch of scholars will receive support annually until graduation, subject to compliance
